Paul Chatem's "The Death of Bighead"

Paul Chatem will unveil his newest collection of works in this much anticipated, upcoming solo exhibit, "The Death of Bighead", opening at C.A.V.E. Gallery on February 5th.

Over the past year, Paul has taken his artwork in an exciting and bold new direction. It began with the idea of incorporating his woodworking skills and interest in antique mechanical toys with his storytelling ability and narrative structure used to create a series of paintings - and has evolved into an adventurous, interactive and unforgettable style.

Paul's ambitious new works are skillfully painted and layered with hand-cut wood gears on custom birch panels that encourage a kinetic interaction with the gallery patron. This exciting show will feature a series of paintings that are inspired by a fictional yet meaningful narrative that celebrates the shedding of older habits and styles, and honors the revolution of originality.

The show is set to coincide with the 52nd Annual Awards and is co-curated by performing artist will.i.am, artist Kris Lewis and David B. Smith. It opens at the Grammy Museum January 24th and will feature new work by 15 cutting edge artists including Paul.

“The Death of Bighead” at C.A.V.E. Gallery is Paul Chatem’s third solo show in his career. The exhibition will showcase a new series of these unique gear-driven pieces that have brilliantly enlivened the surreal and chaotic visual narrative Paul is known for.
